Important Update from LBTB
Dear Member,
The last year has been one of incredible change and just as all businesses have had to adapt and face new challenges, so too has your tourist board. The news that the NWDA would cease to exist beyond March 2012 has had a major impact on the five NW tourist boards, each reviewing its activities and operations in order to continue to support their local visitor economy and in our case you, the businesses that make such a vital contribution to the success of Lancashire and Blackpool.
Having now been through that process and consulted extensively, LBTB’s activities will be focused on building the Lancashire brand and destination marketing; driving the visitor economy activity across the county, supported by Lancashire County Council, the other local authorities and private sector partners. The NWDA will also continue to provide core funding support for the remainder of this financial year, which has greatly assisted LBTB with its transitional arrangements.
Clearly we have had to restructure the organisation and over the coming months you’ll see LBTB in transition and adopting a more commercial approach to its activities, with the aim of developing Lancashire as a sustainable and dynamic destination. We believe for our Members this will mean ‘business as usual’ with the team at LBTB here to help with any of your enquiries regarding Membership and the benefits of being part of the tourist board.
We have already set out some of LBTB’s plans for Lancashire in 2012; a whole year dedicated to events of national importance taking place in the county, which will attract a significant number of visitors and have a ripple effect throughout Lancashire and beyond. LBTB is the official developer of the 2012 British Open Golf tourism website, is co-ordinating the marketing of the visitor experience of the 400th Anniversary of the Lancashire Witches and working closely with the Preston Guild team on promoting the city’s unique place in Lancashire’s creative and entrepreneurial heritage. These and many more events, festivals and openings taking place throughout the year will be supported by the work of LBTB.
In a few weeks time you’ll receive an update on the team at LBTB and the latest opportunities available to Members. This will include details of LBTB information roadshows which will be coming to a venue near you, when we look forward to discussing our exciting plans in person.
