VisitEngland Appoints First Chief Executive

VisitEngland has appointed James Berresford as its first Chief Executive.

James is currently Director of Tourism at Northwest Development Agency, responsible for the formulation, direction and oversight of the North West region’s policy on tourism. He is also a Director of Hadrian’s Wall Heritage Limited and a Director of the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts (LIPA). 

VisitEngland Chairman, Penelope, Viscountess Cobham said, “I am pleased that James will be joining us at such a vital time in the development of the organisation. His experience of the regions, both in the North West and with the totality of the Regional Development Agencies will be invaluable as we formulate our national strategy with our key partners. 

In these demanding times, James will bring drive and energy to our team as we help to maximise the opportunities to grow the visitor economy.”
