Get a taste of Lancashire to celebrate Lancashire Day

ENJOY all things Lancashire later this month when Lancaster City Council will be having its own celebration of this special day.

This year Lancashire Day falls on Sunday November 27 and the council's Visitor Information Centres in Lancaster and Morecambe are inviting people to pop along and pick up lots of information about the county during the week leading up to the day (Monday November 21 – Saturday November 26).

Both centres will be having a free prize draw to win a “Made In Lancashire’ goodie bag and there will be a chance for visitors to have a taste of a range of Lancashire chutneys and cakes.

Lots of delicious Lancashire products will be on sale during the week including Grandma Entwistle’s Lancashire Sauce, Mawson’s Dandelion and Burdock, Sarsaparilla drink, Lancashire crisps, a selection of locally produced jams and chutneys, Lancashire tea and a selection of traditionally made biscuits.

Books, tea, badges, fridge magnets, and china mugs – all with a Lancashire theme - are just a few gift ideas available from the information centres – ideal Christmas presents!

Lancashire day recalls the occasion on November 27 1295 when elected representatives from Lancashire were called to Westminster by King Edward I to attend what later became known as “The Model Parliament.” True Lancastrians are asked to raise their glasses and drink the Loyal Toast to “The Queen, Duke of Lancaster.”

Lancaster and Morecambe Visitor Information Centres at the Storey Creative Industries Centre, Meeting House Lane, Lancaster and Old Station Buildings, Marine Road Central, Morecambe are open Monday - Saturday - 9.30am - 5pm.
