Lancashire Tourism Businesses achieve Green Award

Green Tourism Businesses Celebrated

At an event held at Ribby Hall Holiday Village ion Thursday 5 May 2011.

Mike Wilkinson, Chief Executive of Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, said: "It is wonderful to see so many businesses being committed to sustainable tourism and becoming ambassadors for the environment.

"By doing what it takes to win the Green Tourism Business Scheme accreditation they have helped their own business by saving costs on energy and they are putting Lancashire on the map as a destination for green tourism."

The Bull (pub), Broughton (bronze) (North Yorkshire), awarded Bronze
Canal Boat Escapes, Barnoldswick (Pendle), awarded Silver
Clog and Billycock (pub), Pleasington (Blackburn), awarded Silver
The Garden Cottage (self catering), Inglewhite (Preston), awarded Gold
Height Top Farm (self catering), Higham (Pendle), awarded Gold
Highwayman Inn, Burrow (Lancaster), awarded Bronze
Lower Gill Holidays (self catering), Tosside (Ribble Valley), awarded Gold
Ribby Hall Village (Conference Centre, Self Catering and Visitor Attraction (Fylde), awarded Gold, Gold, Silver

Several other businesses received re-accreditation of their award, demonstrating their ongoing commitment to being green and include: Broadwater Guest House, Morecambe (Lancaster); Grisedale Farm B&B, Leighton (Lancaster); RSPB Leighton Moss, Leighton (Lancaster); The Old Post House Hotel, Clitheroe (Ribble Valley); and Wyre Estuary Country Park, Stannah (Wyre).
