WHAT I DID THIS SUMMER

visitLancashire competition

With the long school holidays looming here’s something to keep the kids occupied, with the added incentive of a great family prize and national profile for the lucky winner.

Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board has launched a children’s travel writing competition for the summer months and hopes to hear from young people about great places they’ve visited, the fun activities they’ve enjoyed and the friends they’ve made out and about in Lancashire this summer.

Selected entries will be included in the 2012 Lancashire Visitor Guide, which is distributed nationally (and internationally available on visitlancashire.com), with one lucky winner receiving

a two night stay at the family-friendly Dalmeny Hotel in St Annes , wristbands to experience the thrills of Pleasure Beach Resort and a chance to go really wild at Blackpool Zoo – all for a family of four.

So, it’s time to put pen to paper, grab that mouse and start to write about a day out or a holiday taken in Lancashire in the past 12 months.  The basic rules include:

  • Must be no more than 200 words (It can be hand written or typed)
  • May be accompanied by a photograph or drawing
  • Open to all children under the age of 16
  • Closing date 30 September 2011

For more information, full terms and conditions and to submit entries go to visitlancashire.com/kidswrite or post entries to Summer Writing Competition, Lancashire and Blackpool Tourist Board, St George’s House, Chorley, Lancashire, PR7 2AA. Please include contact details including a name and email address for a parent or Guardian.

SallyJastrzebski-Lloyd, Marketing Executive,  launching the competition said

“The summer holidays are always about exploring new places, visiting favourite haunts and creating unforgettable memories.  With this competition we hope to capture some of those magical times and share them with other visitors planning a visit to Lancashire.

We’ve created a Parents’ Survival Guide this summer – a handy activity planner with lots of ideas to keep families occupied, so there’s no excuse for not having something to write about.”
