The Bowland Tourism & Environment Fund (BTEF) is a visitor payback scheme operating within the Forest of Bowland AONB. The initiative encourages visitors to help protect the area by making a donation. All donations directly fund environmental projects within the AONB. It enables tourism businesses, visitors and local communities to work together to benefit and protect the AONB.
The BTEF operates across the area as a partnership initiative for the benefit of the AONB.
The Forest of Bowland AONB team coordinates the distribution of BTEF fundraising and information material. BTEF donations are then collected by Ribble Valley Borough Council who coordinate the finances of the fund.
Local community groups and projects within the AONB are invited to bid into the fund for grants of up to £500 for environmental projects within the AONB. Decisions are made by a steering group of appropriate representatives from across the AONB. Grants are then distributed to successful projects by the team at Ribble Valley Borough Council.
