Skills Passport

The new skills passport will provide businesses in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sectors, with an internet based facility for recording and maintaining employee skills, helping businesses to attract and retain staff.

Staff turnover within the sector is currently 30%, resulting in a loss of 590,640 people a year, which costs the equivalent of £886million.

The new UK skills passport should help to cut this by providing businesses with more information about a potential employee before they recruit, ensuring the right person is given the job.

It will also provide individuals with a detailed record of their own skills and achievements, making it easier for them to apply for new positions, as well as showing areas they can improve in.

In areas of the North West People 1st have managed to secure some government funding for employers to try out the UK Skills Passport.
