Management Training

  • Lancashire Hospitality

Lack of leadership and management skills within the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism industry is contributing towards high levels of staff turnover within the industry, causing businesses avoidable recruitment costs.

  • 54% of managers do not possess the minimum level of qualification required for their position
  • Approximately 50% of sector business start-ups fail within their first three years.
  • Micro businesses (those who employ fewer than 5 staff) account for 76% of all sector businesses and approximately half of the workforce. However, these employers are much less likely to offer their staff training or receive funding to help support training.

Following on from the successful management programme Todays Leadership for Tomorrows Manager which took place last year to address these skills shortages within the tourism industry,  LBTB are pleased to confirm their continued support for management and leadership training for 2008/9.

Continuing with the Level 3 Introductory Certificate in First Line Management, which last year saw 28 managers from the industry complete, delegates will attend 'class' one half day per week at Runshaw Business Centre from Thursday January 22nd 2009 from 10am - 1pm.

This qualification is delivered in bite sized segments providing comprehensive knowledge and skills necessary for effective operational management in todays demanding workplace. Topics include motivating your team to perform in the workplace, problem solving skills, using information for decision making and giving and receiving feedback.

By the end of the programme attendees will be able to:

  • apply the skills of an effective manager/supervisor in the workplace
  • adapt their own management style to suit different circumstances
  • use effective communication techniques, as an individual and within teams
  • successfully motivate others, delegate tasks and manage their own time
  • assess and develop individual team members

The programme is aimed at supervisors, team leaders and first line managers who have no previous management qualification but  who have responsibility for other staff members.

Due to a subsidy from LBTB the cost of this course is £100 per delegate.
