Energy Performance Certificate
Energy Performance Certificates and holiday lets
Changes to the requirements for Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) are due to come into place from 30 June 2011 following a change to its guidance by the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to state that an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) must be obtained for properties that are rented out as holiday lets for 20 weeks or more in any 12 month period.
You can contact your local Trading Standards Officer or visit the DCLG FAQ Document for further information.
Please note: The English Association of Self-Catering Operators and the Tourism Alliance are advising operators to delay getting an EPC until the 30th June deadline as they are working to get a delay in the implementation date pending the outcome of the Government’s Red Tape Challenge.
